Standard 2.5hr Charter

Huge gleaming white sails and the whisper-rush of water along the hull -- these are the impressions you'll remember of your cruise aboard an "Explorer" charter. Sailing on Barnegat Bay means clean water, beautiful scenery, and good breezes. Bring along your favorite beverages and snacks -- wine and cheese go well -- or enjoy our free soft drinks and refreshments. The sails will be up in a matter of minutes. It is only 100 yards from our dock to where we can begin sailing. Enjoy the impressive shoreline of Island Heights, with its Victorian houses and 19th century ambiance. Sail past Good Luck Point into the main part of Barnegat Bay. If the wind is brisk we will cover a lot of territory and the scenery will include the amusements of Seaside Heights, the endless bay-side shoreline of Island Beach State Park, Old Barney (Barnegat Light), and the many coves, creeks and rivers on the mainland side of the Bay. Relax and enjoy the exhillarating ride, or take a turn at the wheel   Our clean onboard bathroom facilities ensure your comfort and enjoyment.

Dock and Dine

Barnegat Bay and Toms River have several water side restaurants and "watering holes". Some are fun and some are elegant. All make for a memorable experience on the water. Leave from our dock and sail to the destination. Tie up at the restaurant dock or take the water taxi in for a nice meal or hors d'oevres and drinks. The Lobster Shanty is only a few miles from our marina and is one of the best known seafood restaurants in NJ. The Waters Edge is known as the fun spot on the bay, with a large dockside bar and dining area, often with entertainment, as well as a nice inside restaurant. We depend on the water taxi, so be prepared for the boat to boat transfer (footwear, etc.).  The Captain's Inn is nestled in the busy little port of Forked River, and it serves fine food in a historic home-like setting. They also have an outside bar with entertainment.

Sunset (with optional Overnight)

Go for a sunset sail and we'll head out in the late afternoon, when the other boats have returned to the dock and the Bay is uncrowded. As the sun approaches the horizon, the late-afternoon light gives the colors of the Bay a brilliance that is almost indescribable. After a nice sail, we'll head back into Toms River -- straight toward the setting sun as the sky lights up in pinks and purples. If we're in luck, we'll have the truly unforgettable sight of the moon rising behind us in the East as the sun sets ahead, in the West.

If you want to go for more, we'll anchor out in a quite place and you can relax in the cockpit over coffee or a drink and enjoy the ink-black starlit sky with all the lights of the shoreline. It is an experience that really stays with you. When the evening turns cool, socialize in the salon or enjoy additional refreshments.  Salon has separate bathroom (head).  Sleep in the forward enclosed cabin. You'll have the boat to yourself and the crew will sleep on deck. Next morning awake to a ship-board hearty breakfast and return to the dock before noon.  Note: most overnight trips combine Dock and Dine, Sunset, and Overnight -- all for one low price.

Sailing/Eco-tour

Leave around noon and sail to Tices Shoal, one of the most enticing and appealing areas of the Bay, and transfer to a small boat to meander along the shoreline in the slendid isolation of southern Island Beach. Try your hand at crabbing or fishing. We can even try clamming (demonstration). Witness birdlife of every description. Walk the sandbars when the tide is low. View the Sedge Islands from up close. Learn about the sea creatures and the wildlife. You will think you have left New Jersey for the Outer Banks or the Florida Keys. A great experience for adults and for kids. Return in the late afternoon and maybe catch the beginning of the sunset on the way back, docking at around 7:00. Snacks and soft drinks provided. Bring a box lunch and additional beverages of choice.

Special Arrangements

If you have an anniversary, an engagement, a birthday or other special event to celebrate, we will cooperate to make it as special as possible. Catered food, flowers, etc., can be arranged.

Longer trips of several days or more can easily be arranged. Barnegat Bay lends itself to charters of up to three days. Heading north from the Bay to destinations around Sandy Hook or New York is possible for longer trips, or heading south to Beach Haven, or Atlantic City is another alternative.
